Looking for some good news to kickoff your fall hunting season? Read this article from the September/October 2020 issue of Turkey Country magazine, and learn about someone who's dedicated his life to pursuing the King of Gamebirds and mentoring hunters of all ages.

 Let's not sugarcoat it. The story of North American hunter numbers is basically a downer.

However, there's a bright spot in this otherwise-bleak tale, and that is the rise of women hunters. Historically, women made up 5 to 10 percent of all hunters in the US. That number is steadily increasing, and some estimates now place it between 12 and 15 percent. This article from Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine (https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/wnrmag/2020/Fall/WomenHunters) presents stories  of various Badger women hunters--many of whom learned through partner programs such as NWTF's Women in the Outdoors and WDNR's Learn to Hunt and Hunt for Food.
